Rosebud Applique Quilt Pattern

A Springtime Quilt to Make for Mom

Rosebud Applique Quilt Pattern — What could be sweeter for Mom, fairest of them all, than the fairest flower, a rosebud.

Perfect for Springtime too, this dainty rosebud applique pattern could be used for more than just a bed quilt. For instance, on a pillow or decorating a throw, table topper or garment.

Above is the block chart. In the block one rosebud faces to the left and the other to the right. Each pattern piece has a letter and number to coordinate with the applique templates.

The rosebud has 4 pattern pieces – B, C, D and E. They are also used in reverse to form the block.

You can use two shades of one color for the buds themselves or make it a scrap quilt and use patches in different fabrics.

The image above can be saved or in the post below there’s a link to a PDF file. I’ve scanned the entire three pages of instructions and pattern pieces.

Download Instructions: Right-Click on the image. Select either “save link as” or “save image as” depending on what browser you are using. Or simply click on it, it will open in a new window and save it from there.

General Directions

The Directions page is part of the booklet. Below are the general directions for an applique quilt. The page in it’s entirety is part of the PDF file. This is a good reference for making the blocks and assembling the quilt.

Here’s the illustration of the finished quilt. A single bed size uses 88 blocks and a double bed size uses 110. Of course, you can sneak in some plain blocks in a coordinating color and it would still be very pretty.

Amazon Top Reviewed Items for Applique

Here are some great tools and books for applique. I’ve chosen those that have 5 star reviews. I’m planning on purchasing the Kai scissors (you can never have too many scissors). The reviews sound like they’d be a nice addition to my applique and embroidery tools.
