A shrug is described as woman’s close-fitting cardigan or jacket, cut short at the front and back so that only the arms and shoulders are covered.

Great for keeping your shoulders and neck warm even on a cool summer evening.

Mystery Shrug

No neck opening? No front opening? This vintage knitting pattern is for a Mystery Shrug.

The mystery is in the How to Wear section of the pattern.

By turning back the upper part of the shrug, it makes a 5 inch collar.

The shrug knitting pattern is made using 6 skeins of soft variegated yarn. It’s Kentucky Soft Spun Variegated yarn which is what the company calls a “tweed” yarn. Four colors twisted together in a single strand that creates a varicolored effect.

The skeins consisted of 70 yards each. It was washable and made with 75% Rayon and 25% Cotton. Knitting needles are Size 8.

Gauge = 4 sts = 1 inch; 5 rows = 1 inch.
