Today’s VTNS Fan Freebie is a Tatting pattern from 1916. The booklet it’s from is titled TATTING Series No. 6 by Mary E. Fifch.

It’s Tatting for a Dress and is shown on the front cover of the booklet. Since it’s a pattern from the early 1900s, sometimes the abbreviations used are different than those used today. This blog post has a PDF of Tatting Instructions that will get you started.

The cotton thread used for the tatting pattern is a Cordonnet No. 30 by Woolco. It’s a mercerized crochet cotton used for designs in tatting such as curtain edges, bureau scarfs, pillow cases, etc. DMC has a Cordonnet Crochet Cotton Thread that would be a modern equivalent.
