Welcome to this Friday’s VTNS Facebook Fan Freebie!
It’s not quite summer yet, but to get ready, use this vintage Carnation Crochet Pattern to bring a bouquet indoors.
From a 1946 Star Book Treasure Chest of Crochet, this quick and easy crochet pattern will be done and planted on your table in no time.
The American Thread Company’s Sillateen Sansil crochet thread is discontinued. It is a 2-ply 100% cotton. Some times you can find the original thread on eBay or you can use an equivalent 2-ply.
Experiment with different yarns too. It’s really up to you and how you’d like your carnation to look. For this pattern you’ll need40 yards of colored thread to make one flower and a No. 5 Steel Crochet Hook.
I found this helpful 2 minute YouTube video crochet tutorial by eHow that explains the Difference Between 2-ply and 4-ply Cotton Thread.
Carnations come in all kinds of colors so it’ll be fun deciding what color crochet cotton to use.
Here’s the one page PDF file to download for later:
