Hearthside
Round Crochet Rug Pattern ~ This Hearthside Rug is done in a Puff Stitch. If you need more information on how to do the puff stitch, I found a couple tutorials.
One is on The Spruce Crafts website, How to Crochet the Puff Stitch. It has many photos of the actual process step-by-step.
Another good tutorial is on Yarnspirations. They also have good photos and illustrations you can follow to learn the stitch.
Round Rug
The rug measures 30 inches in diameter. If you’d like it larger you can add more rounds or fringe.
The GAUGE is 2 puff sts = 1 inch, 1 rnd puff st, 1 rnd sc = 1 inch.
The round crochet rug pattern in the booklet uses Kentucky Soft Spun rug yarn in Light Blue and Dark Brown. Of course, you can change the colors to match your decor.
As a matter of fact, the booklet has a couple suggestions.
Kentucky Yarns
The Soft Spun yarn is a thick, fluffy yarn — soft and resilient. Gives “body” to rugs — a bulky, textured look and feel to jackets and stole, hats and bags!
The yarn was made with 75% Rayon, 25% Cotton. It came in 2 – 2.5 ounce skeins with 70 yards/210 feet.
Rug yarns are getting harder and harder to find. You can find Aunt Lydia’s rug yarn by searching online. Also recently Caron sold a Craft and Rug yarn, that if you can find it, would work well.
Needlework Charm
It’s from the Kentucky Yarns booklet Needlework Charm Book No. 4. I’ve posted two other patterns from this booklet, a knitted Mystery Shrug and a crocheted heart shaped potholder.
