Bernat Shawl Crochet Pattern ~ The crocheted base of this shawl is perfect for beaded embellishment. Follow the photograph to add a trim of beads and rhinestones or anything you’d like.

This bernat shawl crochet pattern is from a 1953 Bernat Handicrafter Booklet titled Stoles Book 161.

Materials are Bernat Corette yarn 1 ounce skeins. A No. 3/D crochet hook and strings of sew on beads and rhinestones for trim.

Bernat Corette yarn was a fingering weight made of 95% wool and 5% nylon. Each skein held about 175 yards.

This Lion Brand Touch of Merino yarn may be a good substitute. It’s the second yarn in their Touch of Luxe Yarn Collection. A cashmere like feel and excellent drape.
