That’s what the heading says for this set of filet crochet patterns. The date is 1919 and the pattern booklet is J & P Coats Yokes and Gifts, Crochet Book No. 3.

You can have lots of fun with this simple design. In addition you could use these designs for cross stitching on Aida cloth. I can see the pin cushion done in cross stitch.

Working Patterns

These are the patterns you’ll use for the filet crochet. For the most part you will go by the illustrations, but there are a few directions for each one of the Plates too.

The clovers are done in a Size 80 Mercerized Crochet Cotton. Remember the higher the number the finer the thread. Taken from the booklet:

MERCERIZED CROCHET – A cabled or corded cotton of superior quality, excellent lustre and perfect smoothness. The medium sizes are used for general work, laces, etc; the fine sizes for tatting, Irish and other fine crochet, and the coarse sizes for bedspreads, centerpieces, fringes and macrame work. It is made in White in sizes 1 to 100, Ecru in sizes 1 to 50, and in a number of popular shades in most desirable sizes.
