Make a Block When You Can
Block At A Time Afghan ~ Today’s freebie is a great knitting pattern to pick up when you have a minute. You’ll find this pattern in the 1978 Coats & Clark Afghans For All Occasions Book No. 268
You knit one block at a time and then follow a diagram for the position of the colors and directions of the rows. Similar to a quilt, you sew the blocks together to form a square.
Let’s Talk About Colors
Since this is from a 1978 booklet, the sample is knit in burnt orange, orange, taupe and dark gold. Truly seventies colors.
You can choose your own colors to go along with the decor for a bedroom, den or living room, or simply just use your favorite colors. This afghan could be done all in one color as well.
What Yarn Do I Use?
This pattern uses good old 4-ply Red Heart Worsted Yarn.
