Retro Beach Bag Crochet Pattern VTNS Fan Freebie

Welcome to this Friday’s VTNS Fan Freebie!

We are right in the middle of summer here in the United States and that means prime beach weather.

Today’s freebie is a retro crocheted beach bag pattern.

Fun and easy to do, the bag has a Plastic Liner, sewn with 3/4 yard of Plastic Lining Material and closes with a draw string using 12 one inch rings.

This beach bag uses four different colors of mercerized crochet cotton called “Puritan” by American Thread Company, now discontinued, “Puritan” was a 100% 4-ply cotton, No. 10 bedspread weight. A suitable substitute would be this DMC Cebelia Crochet Cotton, Size 10, 282 yards. The pattern calls for 2 – 250 yard balls of each color.

The entire bag is worked with a double strand of thread. A Steel Crochet Hook No. 1 is used or any size hook that will result in the stitch gauge — 7 sts = 1 inch.
