About Me

Debra - Vintage Crafts and MoreMy passion is vintage craft patterns. Whether it’s sewing, quilting, crochet or cross stitch. I’ve tried and loved them all.  I’ve even used a couple of the old sewing patterns I’ve found to sew dresses for my granddaughter.

I started attending estate sales, garage sales and auctions. I couldn’t go past a thrift shop without stopping in to find what might be inside. My collection was increasing by leaps and bounds. I soon realized in order to keep feeding my vintage craft passion, I would have to sell some of the items that were quickly accumulating through out our home.

Before I met my husband, I was a single mom supporting two children by working in an office. Now I had the freedom to pursue working at home. It was in 2005 that I seriously started selling on eBay. Going out and finding great deals on craft items that I knew others who loved crafts would like.

Today I have an eBay store, vintagecraftsandmoreshoppe.com. My eBay philosophy is to “treat others the way I’d like to be treated.” I believe 99.9% of the people using eBay are friendly and honest. eBay has always been a challenge, but a good one and never gets boring.

Many of the items from my collection I found qualified as public domain material and I wanted to be able to share the many vintage patterns I have so I started this blog. I’m finding that there is a technical learning curve with doing this, but I’m up for it. Just the thought of being able to share my passion makes me happy.

I hope you enjoy the patterns I share here!

    Hi Debra,
I came across this webpage. I was taught how to do a round smocked pillow when I was about 10 yrs old. Never did it again. I’m 59. I thought a good craft I could do with my grands via zoom was to have each girl make a round smocked pillow. Needless to say I was glad to see this page. Would you be able to give me instructions & list of materials for a round pillow is it the same as the square? Thank you any assistance you can provide.

I don’t have a pattern or instructions for a smocking a round pillow, but you could probably use the instructions for the square or hexagon pillow, and just make it a round shape. There are a couple vintage 1960’s patterns out there that have a round pillow on the front cover. One that uses gingham is Simplicity 4679. Another is Simplicity 5340. You could do a search on Ebay and Etsy for those patterns. You can also search the internet for “how to smock gingham” and you may find some free basic instructions for a round pillow. Hope this helps. Thanks for your question. Debra

Hi: My name is Barbara Dollar and today I received a kit from your place of business the “12th Hole at Augusta”. This kit is not what I wanted (partially painted) and cross stitch only the bridge. I am looking for the entire cross stitch pattern of the 12th hole at Augusta. So, I am returning this item to you. So sorry…….. Barb

I’m sorry about that. In your My Ebay, Purchase History, find the order and to the right is “more options”, in the drop down menu you can choose “start a return”. That way after I accept the return a pre-paid label will be available for you to print to send the item back. Once returned I’ll issue a full refund.

I am very glad to find you site. I appreciate the effort you have put into collecting and sharing the lovely work on your site. I enjoy collecting, learning to do, and sharing, various types of needle arts. I also enjoy learning the history and collecting the tools to make the pieces.

I have some Daily Province newspaper patterns for “Garden Bouquet Quilt” from the 1930’s”. My mother cut them out & was in the process of embroidering & putting together this quilt when her life changed & she was too busy to do any more on it but she kept all of what she had completed. She died in 1960 & I have kept her work, it is beautifully hand stitched. I’m 91 & I would like for it all to go some where it would be appreciated. An archive maybe. Any suggestions? This news paper is in Vancouver B.C. Canada

Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. I believe the Garden Bouquet Quilt was by Nancy Page (Florence LaGanke) and during 1931 was a series of quilt patterns published in many newspapers. It’s really beautiful and if you look up Garden Bouquet Quilt by Nancy Page on the internet you’ll find many wonderful examples and information about it.

As far as an archive to give your mother’s work to, in Canada I found the Textile Museum of Canada in Toronto. In the States there’s the International Quilt Study Center & Museum at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln that has a page about Donating a Quilt. The National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Kentucky.

Hopefully, one of them will be interested. Thanks for contacting me.
        Debra
