Alphabet for Monograms
Today I’m sharing a cross stitch alphabet chart for monograms on clothing and linens. The cross stitch alphabet is also great to use to personalize gifts, stitch verses, as well as wedding and birth records. And as a way to sign your name to your finished work.
I’m leaving this cross stitch alphabet in .jpg format so that after you’ve saved it you will be able to open it in the photo editing software of your choice so you can resize, crop, touch up, etc.
Download Instructions: Right-Click the link and select either “save target as” or “save link as” depending on what browser you are using or simply click on it and save or print.
Some of the things you can do to alter the alphabet is change thread colors. Use a different palette besides the blue with black outline. You could make a pattern inside the letters or use back stitches instead of cross stitches for the outline.
By adding stitches between and around the letters, or lining the letters up in a crooked or wavy line will give your work a whimsical look.

I would like a vintage lower case cross stitch to match the upper case. Do you have one?
I don’t have one that I know of. I’d check the Antique Pattern Library for some. Also do an internet search, there may be one out there.

People don’t realize how useful these alphabets are. I happen to already have a few printed out, that are vintage iron on x-fers, also a few pages of x-stitch patterns for the alphabet, both in upper and lower case. When I bought them they were loose and tucked into pages of very old needlework and knitting magazines. One of the patterns (YAYYY!) is from Old-Fashioned Baby, a Christening set that is just exquisite. Oh the gems you find in old books.
Yes, they sure do come in handy and there are so many different styles of letters to cross stitch and embroider that can be found in vintage books. Thanks for commenting.
